November 22, 1963 was a dark day in American history. No matter what your politics were, the moment that President Kennedy was assassinated and murdered, we all lost our sense of innocence.
That day unleashed a path of tragic events that over the next several decades, has left us in a downward spiral of fear and distrust of our basic beliefs.
It is difficult to think of the loss of contributions that the music of John Lennon would have provided us with, or the success of social justice and racial equality in this country that Martin Luther King dreamed for us.
Many other events too numerous to mention have chipped away at the bedrock of our way of life.
The question before us is, do we continue to harvest the seeds of hate and distrust or do we look at the better angels in all of us to awaken a more mature and enlightened society?
